Amazon Product Listing: Why Use a Copywriting Service?

Want to know how to list a new product on Amazon or how to increase sales for your existing product listings?

If you explore my blog you’ll find lots of expert tips, which I’ve used to help some of Amazon’s top sellers. But in this post, I’m going to explain why hiring a copywriter to create your Amazon listing will be the best money you have ever spent.

A great investment that pays back many times over

If you’re going to spend money anywhere, spend it on your product listing copy and images. Along with a good product (which I’ll assume you have), these words and images are the difference between converting sales, or not. They need to make you stand out from your competitors and build trust.

Get this right by hiring an expert Amazon copywriter who can craft beautiful, persuasive copy that answers your customer’s pain points, and your listing is sure to kill it from the get go!

Rich, benefit-lead marketing copy

An experienced copywriter knows instinctively how to answer the number one question every customer has: what’s in it for me?

We do this with rich marketing copy that tells them how your product is going to improve their life. Many sellers mistake benefits with features when writing their own copy, and end up with a listing that doesn’t connect with the customer. If you don’t establish a connection, you won’t make sales.

Strategically placed seo keywords

Expert copywriters know how to rank products on Amazon. We strategically place seo keywords throughout your listing, making it sound natural so as not to ruin the rich marketing copy that informs your customer’s purchasing decision.

Ranking on Amazon requires a solid keyword strategy and a professional copywriter will make sure that strategy is executed properly, without disrupting the flow of your copy or making it seeming too spammy.
Persuasive copywriting techniques and seo can increase Amazon sales

Persuasive selling techniques

The classic sales techniques still work because they are based on human psychology. Experienced copywriters use these selling techniques instinctively and they inform every word we write when creating sales copy for products.

Objectivity

Even top sellers on Amazon can be too close to their own product to be objective. A professional copywriter can help you discover benefits that might not have occurred to you, and also help explain your value proposition and product features more concisely.

Branding and advertising knowledge

An experienced copywriter will create a rich brand tone of voice for your product that builds trust and makes you stand out from your competitors. We also have a deep understanding of advertising principles and the online landscape, so you don’t have to.

So, if you’re wondering how to rank higher on Amazon, using a professional copywriting service to create or re-write your listing may well be the answer to your prayers.

How to Write an Outstanding About Us Page

How to Write an Outstanding About Us Page

Your About Us page is one of your website’s most important sections. It needs to be outstanding in order to build trust and persuade your website visitors to become customers. Get it right and you’ll create loyal customers that will help your new company or startup to grow.

Firstly, don’t worry. Many new business owners and startups don’t know what to write in the About Us section of a website. It doesn’t mean your business is going to fail if you haven’t worked out how to articulate what your company stands for yet.

That’s where this blog post can help.

As a professional website copywriter, here are my tip tops for creating a killer About Us page:

Write in a tone that connects

No one likes an About Us or About Me page that feels stiff and reads like a resume, and so I always advocate adding personality when writing this section of your website. This can also be a place to identify your new company’s unique tone of voice, so I recommend starting with your About Us page before any other.

Writing the content for this section is a valuable exercise that helps you work out who you are and what you stand for, so it’s beneficial to get at least a first draft done early on.

However, don’t worry if you’ve started setting up your business already and haven’t perfected, or even written it yet. A professional About Us page should evolve over time anyway, so start creating it now.

Answer your potential customers’ questions

While I advocate an impactful About Us page with lots of personality, you also have to answer some important questions, like:

What is the history or story of your company?

What professional experience do you have?

What is the mission and philosophy of your new company or startup?

These questions allow your website visitors to decide if they trust you.

Be innovative with your About Us page structure

It’s much more important to write with meaning and passion than sticking to a template you’ve found online. As long as you can communicate your ideas concisely (without BS!), you can be creative with the structure.

Saying that, if you have something that will give you serious credibility (a big investor or high profile experience, for example), then you’ll want to position that content near the beginning.

How to write an about us page for a website - copywriting service

How is your product or service going to improve their life?

An About Us page is a great location to drop your elevator pitch. Write about the benefits, not the features of your product or service and explain to your potential customer how you can solve their problem(s). How will their life be better after becoming your customer? Don’t be afraid to draw a picture and use the word “imagine”.

Don’t write a novel

I would recommend writing no more than 300 words of text when creating a professional About Us page. Avoid huge paragraphs (no more than around 6-7 lines) and punctuate the text with bold, inspiring headers to make it easier on the eye and less of a laborious read. Also, include high quality images wherever possible, which makes for richer content.

Always ask yourself the question: would I want to read this?

Include any socially responsible practices

Do part of your profits go to a good cause? Are your operations and purchasing decisions environmentally friendly and sustainable? Do you work to benefit your local community? If so, make sure you include this in your About Us page content when creating it. Again, this will go a long way to winning the trust and loyalty of your customers.

If you don’t have any socially responsible practices, then I’d recommend implementing some. There are many worthy causes to align your business with.

Give your new company a face

This isn’t always possible (if you still have a day job for example), but if you can, include your name and a professional photo on your About Us page. If you have a team, include details of them too. If you don’t include this content you risk making the business seem faceless, which does not inspire trust!

Now you’ve learnt my top tips on how to write a professional About Us page for your website, go ahead and start creating your draft. Approach it with a sense of fun and passion and you’ll be surprised with what you can come up with.

Professional Seller Tips: How to Increase Sales on Amazon

Amazon has become a seriously competitive marketplace and professional sellers need to know all the tricks in the book to achieve a high sales rank for their product. In this post, I’ll share my top SEO tips, how to optimize your listing’s marketing copy to seriously increase sales, and a few other little nuggets that will help your product kill it on Amazon.

But first…. if you want expert help to rank high, beat the competition and increase sales, check out my professional Amazon listing service

Include top SEO keywords in your title

Having done research, your SEO keywords list should be split out into the following:

– Top 3
– Top 10
– Full list for backend and content marketing

Your top 3 keywords should be in your title, with the most important as near to the beginning as possible after your brand name. Any more than 3 is spammy, which does not build trust. Plus, you need to leave room for the all-important benefits…

Include benefits in your title

Your sales copy needs to answer your potential customer’s primary question, which is:

“What’s in it for me?”

By putting benefits (i.e. how your product is going to improve their life – younger skin, faster mealtime prep etc…) in the first half of your title, they will show up in the snippets of the search results page. This will differentiate your listing from the majority of other listings and should result in more potential customers clicking on your listing.

Put your top 10 SEO search terms in the bullets

None of us can be 100% certain how the Amazon algorithm ranks products, but I can tell you that my clients who are top sellers on Amazon put all of their SEO keywords in the bullets. They do extremely well using this approach.

Of course, it’s very tricky to place a lot of keywords naturally throughout rich, persuasive marketing copy, which is why they hire me to nail it for them.

Make the bullets benefit lead, not feature heavy

Benefits again! Yep, you also need to answer that primary consumer question in the bullets as well, if you want to increase sales. Some professional Amazon sellers start each bullet with a concise benefit in CAPS. Personally, I think that’s an easier read for the customer and my #1 bestseller and #1 new release listings used this style, but as always, do some testing to find out what converts best.

Professional Seller Tips - How to Increase Sales on Amazon

Optimize your listing for mobile

On mobile, your product listing only displays the top 3 bullets on the first page, requiring a deeper level of interaction to display the others. To optimize your Amazon product listing for mobile and to increase sales, make sure your 3 most compelling, benefit lead bullets are in the first positions.

Lead with an inspiring headline in the product description

It’s not just about SEO keywords on Amazon. It’s also about rich marketing copy that builds trust and inspires someone to think, “I need this product to improve my life”.

And for that, you need listing elements like an inspiring headline. If your product is a revolutionary new toy that allows your customers to have hours of fun with their kids, tell them with an attention-grabbing headline! The features of your product can then back up the claim.

End your listing with a powerful call to action

This is a classic and well-used sales technique, but it’s surprising how many professional Amazon sellers don’t have this element at the end of their listing. Once the customer has read your listing, you need to tell them what you want them to do, which in the Amazon marketplace is ADD TO CART.

If you include a top benefit (yep, there’s that word again) in the call to action, you remind the customer why they need your product in their life, just before they make the purchasing decision.

Consider sponsored advertising

Once you have a tight, optimized product listing with naturally placed SEO search terms and rich, persuasive marketing copy, consider whether you can afford to invest in sponsored Amazon PPC ads. If you’re not ranking on the first page just yet, these sponsored PPC ads make your product appear at the top, or side of the organic results. This obviously has a cost involved, but if you increase your sales, you improve your ranking. If you have the budget, it can be worth it.

If you go this route, just remember to make your title a mix of SEO search terms and compelling BENEFITS.

Now you know these nuggets of Amazon optimization wisdom, you can go forth and tweak your listing to increase sales. Or, if you want to invest in giving your listing an expert touch, you can hire me to do it.

Make Money With Amazon: Seller Name Ideas That Stand Out

Make Money With Amazon: Seller Name Ideas That Stand Out

If you want to start selling products through Amazon, you need a seller name that will help you build trust and stand out from your competitors. In this post, you’ll find some creative ideas and strategies that will help you create a kick ass seller name worthy of a serious professional brand.

If you’re a complete beginner, you might want to check out this blog post, which covers how to sell stuff on Amazon in 8 easy steps.

1. Make a list of words that are relevant to your product

The key here is to brainstorm in a stream of consciousness and write down WHATEVER words come to mind when you think of your product or industry. For example, if you were selling a kitchen gadget, your list could look like this:

Kitchen, cook, gadgets, cookware, chef, utensils, tools, steaming, boiling, grill, grip, handy, easy, simple, gastro…

2. Add the personal element to your list

Anything goes here! Write it all down and add to your list above. From the names of your family members and pets, to your street name, town you live in, likes and dislikes. Just write down anything that feels personal to you.

3. What are some cool brand names in your category?

I’m not suggesting ripping your competitors off (obvs), but by studying their brand and other brands that you admire, you can be inspired.

What kind of words do they use? What is the format of the company name?

4. Put the list into categories and create a formula

By studying other brands you could also spot a formula, for example:

Personal element + Product/Industry keyword + Business Entity

 Which might look like this:

Avery Cookware Company

Or any combination from your list above:

Harper’s Kitchen
Madison Row Cookware
Gastro Gadgets

All of these names you can hit upon by mixing and matching words in different categories of your lists.

5. Use word cards for random (perhaps inspired!) ideas

One way to make the process more creative and spontaneous is to write all of your words on cards or pieces of paper and try random combinations. You might hit upon something truly original, or at the least get some more out of the box ideas that make your brand name disruptive in a competitive market. Unique names can also be more memorable.

6. Don’t forget to check if the name already exists!

This seems like a no brainer, but if you fall in love with a name and get carried away, you can forget to check if it’s already been nabbed by someone else. Search your name idea on Google, Amazon and the free Trademark Search Database on the US government website.

If it doesn’t show up, AWESOME! You’ve got yourself an original seller name.

Once you’ve got a great product and a stand out seller name, you’re ready to start selling on Amazon. Next you need a seriously persuasive product listing! And that is something I have a ton of experience with…

How to market and advertise your business to boost sales

How to market and advertise your business to boost sales

Businesses need cash flow to stay afloat and for that they need to generate sales. But how can you stimulate sales quickly and effectively online? In this post, I share my top 5 marketing and advertising tips that offer the potential to boost your sales fast.

But first! If you haven’t read this book yet, you need to go get it now! You’d be surprised how much of the practical advice given in this book can seriously benefit your business.

1. Set up a Google Adwords campaign

The wonderful thing about Google Adwords is that you can start generating leads and sales almost immediately. Any click could turn into a customer! You will need compelling ad copy that stands out from all the other advertisers and you’ll need to optimize your campaign settings to attract the right type of traffic, but if you have the right product or service, this is an excellent way to market your business.

If it’s right for your product or service, you can also advertise on social media platforms like Facebook or Pinterest for similarly quick results.

2. Send out a press release

This might be seen as old school, but everything is done digitally nowadays, making it an online marketing strategy not to be missed.

By creating a newsworthy press release about your business, your story could be picked up by blogs, online media sites AND print publications. The awareness and reach of this is massive and the best thing is, once you’ve distributed your press release with a few clicks of a button (or got someone to do it for you), coverage can happen quickly!

3. Create a compelling offer for an email campaign

Out of all the ways to market your business, email campaigns have constantly proven to be one of the most effective. And again, results can happen quickly. You obviously need an email list to market to, but if you can get someone to open your email and click your offer, they could easily convert into a customer in a matter of minutes.

You need a subject line that recipients feel compelled to open and you need an offer they just can’t miss out on. Get that right and your sales can skyrocket!

How to market and advertise your business to boost sales

4. Post 2 engaging blog posts per week

This online marketing strategy has a slightly longer lead time, but is one of the best ways to get highly specific, targeted traffic to come to you, which is why it’s called ‘inbound marketing’. Use Google Keyword Planner to find out what questions your ideal target audience are searching for. Write interesting and informative blog posts to answer those questions and include the keywords within the text so you come up in the search results.

5. Test your sales copy

If you’re getting impressions but no clicks, or traffic but no conversions, there’s probably something wrong with your copy. ALWAYS test different headlines and call to actions (CTAs) to see what converts. Only change one thing at a time so you know what is or isn’t working. Small tweaks can have a dramatic effect! And the resulting sales could be instant.

The online marketing and advertising strategies I’ve covered above can get surprisingly quick results and help boost sales for your business. If you want to know more…

Make Money On Amazon: 5 Expert Tips on How to Become A Professional Seller

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, you might have wondered: is selling on Amazon worth it and how easy is it to make money? Becoming a professional seller and selling products on Amazon can be hugely rewarding if done right, so I’m going to share some expert tips on how to sell on Amazon like a pro.

For beginners, read my blog post on How To Sell Stuff On Amazon For Beginners

1. Choosing the right product is key

Sure, you can see what is flying off the virtual shelves by searching Amazon Bestsellers and finding early opportunities. But for this, you need to act fast and get the product in stock with your unique branding before the competition gets too high.

Professional sellers also find products that are wildly popular in other territories (using a tool like Trendosaur to identify early product trends), and bring them to their domestic market.

Professional resellers have teams of people looking for used items at flea markets or garage sales that they then sell on Amazon for a profit. Anything from books and old comics, to a unique lamp or ornament (how to sell a book on Amazon requires another blog post altogether!). These professional resellers have made A LOT of money selling used items on Amazon, but they started off trawling those flea markets by themselves before building a team.

And that’s the beauty of it. There are a ton of ways to make money with Amazon!

2. A sleek, professional listing is crucial

You can have the most innovative, exciting product on the market, but if your product listing isn’t good enough, you won’t persuade people to buy it.

In order to sell things on Amazon, you will need rich, persuasive, benefit lead marketing copy in a classic sales structure, and a keyword strategy that will drive traffic to your page. Your listing needs to build trust and answer the customer’s number one question: What’s in it for me?

Make money on Amazon: become a professional Amazon seller

3. Excellent customer service wins reviews

Customer reviews are crucial for your product’s ranking on Amazon and they also help to establish much needed credibility and trust. Don’t let your efforts stop when someone checks out. Provide them with additional help and information about your product, provide friendly support and offer a refund if there’s anything wrong.

If they finish their interaction with you feeling like they’ve had a positive experience, they will be happy to leave positive feedback when you ask for it. And you should definitely be asking for it in your follow-up email sequence.

 4. Monitor your competitors

Amazon is competitive. Become a professional Amazon seller by constantly monitoring your competition to see if they are doing anything differently to you, or better than you. It’s not rocket science and the great thing is, you can respond quickly by tweaking your listing strategy.

Are they offering something for free? Have they identified a compelling benefit you’ve failed to include in your copy? Have they used an expert Amazon listing service and you haven’t?

5. Once you’ve hit the right formula, repeat

Most professional Amazon sellers have more than one product in their range, and all they’ve done is just repeat the same process. Some will go where the opportunity is, meaning there’s no link between their products, but others grow their brand and take advantage of the fact that customers often buy similar products. The great thing is, once you’ve got the formula right for one product, all you need to do is repeat.

It is totally possible to make money on Amazon and become a professional seller. Thousands of online entrepreneurs and digital nomads do it every day. Plus, now you have some pro tips to get ahead of the competition!
